Today's writing is different from usual. Today, I offer you a series of mystical love poems from my "Prayer a Day" writings in 2004. I hope you read, enjoy, and reflect on these.
MYSTIC LOVE POEMS
One day
I got so tired
of Her
chasing after me,
I stopped, and
looking back, said,
"Please, leave me alone,
really, I am not worthy of such
Love as you are trying to give me."
To this, She replied, smiling,
"Well, maybe you are not, but
I am." Now, how could
Brian resist a Love like
that?

God,
like all great Lovers,
knows secret passageways
to your heart
that you have
not even
begun to
discover.
***
You pine for Her.
When your heart
is ready, then,
She will appear.
Until then,
at least you
are alive enough
to pine. The
dead among us
have lost even
the capacity
for such
longing.

As long as
You settle for
that rock,
the diamond
your heart longs for
will remain
outside your
reach.
***
Why do you
hold hands
with a piece of the shore,
when you could make mad Love
with the Ocean?
How pitiful
the little most humans
settle for!

How do you
get the Beloved
in bed
with you?
Surrender, my Dear,
surrender!
***
Once I was
ready to kiss Love,
She pushed me away,
saying, "Brian, if
you are going to
have me, you are going
to have all of me, forever."
I wondered, "Am I ready
for that level of commitment?"
I learned that night,
God is not wanting just
a romp in bed,
God is wanting
me!

If most of us had known
what Loving the Divine would cost us,
possibly, we would have thought twice
before taking our clothes
off!
No wonder
most people
are talkers,
not
Lovers.
***
Lovers undress
to make love–
so the soul
near to
Grace.
